BUILDING A BRIDGE OVER THE UNCANNY VALLEY . . .

MEET LEMMY.

At Orbicularis, we are on a dedicated mission to produce the most charming and believable robot the world has ever seen. We want Lemmy to not only impress with his variety of emotions and vocalizations, but also give a sense of warmth and charisma. When you meet him, you will not experience a cold shell full of electronics; you will only experience Lemmy.

01 / Motorized

Measuring in at the average human fist, Lemmy packs a big punch in a small package. He is fully powered with a variety of electronics to provide realistic and subtle human movements, while maintaining a wide range of expressions.

02 / Emotional

In other humanoid robots, it is common that they can give an uncomfortable and unbelievable feeling upon viewing. In 1978, Masahiro Mori coined the term, 'the uncanny valley' to describe this. One of our main goals of the Lemmy project is to avoid that feeling entirely, it is what informs all of our design, fabrication, and refining stages.

03 / Versatile

At Orbicularis, we have big plans for Lemmy. He can be inserted in to a vast array of markets including medical, performative, and the ever evolving toy industry. Now, our hard work is fueled by a deadline when we can be satisfied with our product and share him with the world.

Hello, I'm a digital artist born and raised in the Bay Area. I graduated from the University of Silicon Valley with a degree in Digital Art, which soon led me to this position. I began working at Orbicularis in early 2024 under a 3D generalist capacity. I love my team of artists and engineers and I'm excited to show the world what we've been working on.

I’m a maker and designer currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area. At Orbicularis, I serve as a Prototyping and Materials Specialist with my main responsibilities being machine maintenance, rapid prototyping and experimentation to develop life-like, fleshy materials. Outside of work, you can find me watching soccer and basketball or taking care of my pets!
